Help Decide UUCP’s Path to Social Justice with JUST Pensacola
The Sixth Principle of Unitarian Universalism is “The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all.” Have you ever felt helplessness, frustration, anger or sorrow after listening to the news? When you see and hear the latest injustices perpetuated upon our fellow humans, do you despair at the knowledge that you, alone, can do nothing to bring justice to these people or these situations?
Welcome to JUST Pensacola (formerly the Pensacola Area Interfaith Justice Ministry). This is a recently formed coalition of 20 or more local congregations of all religions including Christian Protestant, (such as Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Episcopalian), as well as Catholic, Muslim, UU and Jewish. We are a coalition of many different faiths and beliefs who have come together to combine our strengths and our voices to seek justice in our local area. We are ready to start the process of listening to each and all of our members, so that we can learn what social justice issues we want to consider for the “big action” we will be taking with the other congregations with whom we have allied.
Our congregation committed to this collaboration to work for justice. As an essential part of our commitment, we need to get the input of each member of our congregation concerning which local issue of injustice want to address. The system for talking to each of us and learning what we’d like is to do is to have each member attend one small-group “house meeting” at the home of a fellow UUCP member.
Below, you will find the link where you can choose any of several days or times to participate in one of the house meetings. Since the meetings start next week, please sign up right away. We want to be sure to include everyone. So, let’s get together in small groups, to get to know each other better and to enjoy a time of fellowship while we discuss those issues that are nearest to our hearts.
Responding to the invitation and choosing a meeting that is convenient for you is fast and easy. Just click on the “Sign-Up Genius” link below. It has a list of dates, places, and times that we have set for our house meetings. Please look over the list and select the date and time that suits you. We want to hear what everyone has to say.
