UUCP has been participating in the MLK Parade since its beginning. The parade is back on again after a 2-year hiatus. We’ve won awards for our floats and our music, and you can see our trophies in the library!

This year the theme is “What is your life’s blueprint?” From a speech he gave young students in Philadelphia, MLK said each person should have a life blueprint including three things:

* A deep belief in their own worth and dignity,

* A determination to achieve excellence in all endeavors,

* A commitment to the eternal principals of beauty, love and justice.

We almost always have hand drummers on our floats, providing a rhythm as we proceed. We throw beads, candy and toys to the people watching, carry signs and banners, and most of all, share our common goals and make connections.
