As the Calendar Year begins in July, we welcome several new Board members. Thanks to the wisdom of previous members creating the current bi-laws, several members will be returning in their current positions. Therefore, the Board retains knowledge, experience and coordination for the coming year. As your new Board President, it is exciting to anticipate our journey together in the next year.
Due to our Professional Ministerial change, the Board is active and meeting through out the summer. The intention is to maintain strength and stability with shared leadership to make effective decisions that affect our congregation. The “Transition Team” is actively seeking to secure a Professional Minister as directed by the Congregation. They are encouraged and remain mindful of the parameters of our resources.
As the Board and Congregation engage in shared Ministry to one another and outside our congregation there are several opportunities surfacing. These windows of opportunity seem to be accompanied with a renewed energy and awareness.
In June UUCP’s presence was obvious at the Pensacola Pride Festival. It was invigorating to have so many (10-15) members engaged in the process of creating and maintaining our booth. Those who attended the event were open and receptive to our presentation engaging in the photo booth and colorful tye-die flag creations.
Sunday Services Team remains diligent in maintaining quality services with multiple members engaging in the process of seeking speakers, creating presentations, and being service leaders. In addition, there are “second hour “offerings periodically through out the summer orchestrated by the adult RE leadership.
There is a retreat planned for the Children’s RE Team of teachers in July. Together they will be planning the years programming while deepening relationships among the Team.
During this unknown transition time, anxiety (often unrealized) and tension often exist (myself included). It has been my experience that vocalizing this with others is helpful, so we can address our concerns and reduce the unintended behaviors that may occur.
So Speak Out, let the Board members know your thoughts and concerns. Our community is working well together. I feel comforted reminding myself that: We are together in this Journey.
Namaste,
Nancy
