On June 11, members of the Interim Ministry Search Team interviewed a new candidate. This candidate was recommended to us by Christine Purcell of the UUA Southern Region, as a someone who had answered their call for ministers to fill remaining vacancies among UU churches in the South. The candidate is retiring from a settled ministry, but expressed a willingness to help us on a part-time basis.
This candidate is not a formally trained “Interim Minister” as were the ministers we considered during the first round. But this candidate has served in long-term positions, first as a religious educator and then as a minister. Everyone who interviewed the candidate was favorably impressed and the candidate communicated a good understanding of our needs as we move forward into a vision and plan for the long term.
Part-time ministry may not have been “Plan A” for us, and it will require some creative thinking all around, but it remains an attractive option given our more limited budget this year. This process is developing, so stay tuned for updates!
