Thanks to Everyone for Another Very Successful Yard Sale!!!

Thanks for the wonderful donations–yoUU again gave us LOTS of items.  We used almost the entire church to display everything.  And again, you responded by helping set up the tables and moving the “stuff” to the lobby after church on Sunday, April 28th. We had a great response in terms of helpers—10 members and friends on Sunday!  I am sure I missed making note of some of the names as everyone moved so quickly, and I truly apologize for any omissions, but we THANK YOU SO MUCH!  It made the work during the week so much easier.  And then we asked for volunteers to help with set up, organizing and pricing items, and to work the sale—13 people showed up Monday which got us off to a great start, 16 came back on Tuesday, and 9 on Wednesday, when we worked about 3/4 day to finish all the pricing.   On Friday (our busiest day), we had 18 volunteers and 19 came on Saturday, (especially for the clean-up!) for a total of 33 different people volunteering—absolutely wonderful participation!!! Special thanks are expressed to Kate Wolverton who did a pick-up of heavy items for the sale.  And a very special “thank you” to Hannelore Musial who allowed us to store some early donations in her shed until our sale. We were the “best fed” yard sale workers ever thanks to gourmet sandwiches and cookies leftover from Georgieanna’s and Laura’s Rotary event and thanks to “chef” Jack Comstock who prepared delicious warm “straight from the oven” quiche and delivered it personally.  We had some yard sale donations which could not be sold, and we appreciate the members who took some items to their homes to dispose of in their garbage.

We could not have succeeded without ALL the dedicated helpers and donations.  These “priceless” volunteers were Georgieanna Bryant, Kim Bryant, Linda Cobb, Holly Collins, Jack Comstock, Billye Cutchen, Marylee Donnelly, Barbara Goggins, Nancy Hagman, Nadine Hubble, Lisa Hudson, Vicki Johnson, Marianne Kelly, Kaye Kemnitz, Laura Keith King, Margaret McLarin, Carol Michalski, Marcy Moreland, Emma Mulvaney, Michael Newcomb, Audrey Preston, Erin Renfroe, Scott Satterwhite, Terra Shute, Hugh Ed Turner, Patti Underwood and granddaughter Millie, Sharon West, Laurie Winterberg, and Kate Wolverton.  And SUPER THANKS to the following volunteers who helped EVERY DAY—Barbara Goggins, Michael Newcomb, Patti Underwood, Carol Michalski, Erin Renfroe and me.  And APPRECIATIVE THANKS to Lisa Hudson and Laurie Winterberg who came all but one day.   Special thanks to Erin Renfroe who disposed of items the truck did not take. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to ALL these WONDERFUL, DEDICATED Volunteers!!!!

Thanks also to persons who loaned us folding tables—these helped us better organize the items, so they would sell better. Thanks to Erin Renfroe for her placement of internet ads, to Office Administrator Terra Shute for internal advertisement of the sale, Charlie Steed for putting it on church website, Pam Levitt and Audrey Preston for putting it on the church’s Facebook page, to Jack Comstock who placed our yellow yard sale signs on church property near Highway 29 and Palafox, and to Barbara Goggins and Georgieanna Bryant who had both a paid ad and multiple community services notices in the Pensacola News Journal.  Thanks also to all the UU shoppers who shopped the sale.  Not only do our yard sales help us recycle and de-clutter, they most certainly help low income shoppers with budget shopping.  Charities also benefited from our sale—books and other media were donated to the Open Books for Prisoners and the Milton Public Library, linens were donated to local animal shelters, and other unsold items were donated to Teen Challenge.  And some items will be used by our UU church.

It definitely “takes a VILLAGE!!”  Despite the prolonged dangerous construction on Highway 29, I was delighted
initially to report a Total Profit of $1961!!!  However, I am ELATED to report a REVISED TOTAL PROFIT OF $2324.37 THANKS to Erin Renfroe who took one of the old Asian prints and sold it online for $400 which after fees added $363.37 to our profit.  KUDOS TO ERIN’S INGENUITY and GENEROSITY!!!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYONE’S SUPPORT, WHETHER YOU DONATED ITEMS, VOLUNTEERED YOUR TIME or both!!!!

Georgieanna Bryant, Yard Sale Coordinator

And our deepest thanks and most heartfelt appreciation to Georgieanna Bryant and Barbara Goggins without whom there wouldn’t BE a UUCP Yard Sale! — Ed.
