Virtual Service: Joy Down in My Heart

Connie Goodbread and Rev. Carlton E. Smith of the UUA Congregational Life staff discuss sources of joy during challenging times that include a global pandemic and national confrontations with racial injustice. This quote by Rabindranath Tagore serves as bookends for the dialogue: “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.

The service also features music by Denise D’Angelo, Laura Keith King and Stephanie Ball, and others; and contributions from Rev. Alice Syltie, Marylee Donnelly, Nancy Hagman, and Erin Renfroe.
