Signs are a means of sending a message, conveying information, and drawing attention to a place or an issue. The UUCP signs on Pensacola Blvd (Hwy 29) and on Palafox Street help visitors locate our church and alert passersby to our presence. Our members have been expressing for years that our current signage is insufficient and ineffective. Now we are taking steps toward refreshing and improving both signs so that our church and our mission will be more visible.
The Board has formed a task force to investigate possibilities for redoing our main sign on Pensacola Blvd. The task force will research options and prices for a new sign and will suggest fundraising ideas. Task force members are Laura Keith King (chair), Gerry Donnelly (Board Liaison), Rob Pallme, and Charlie Steed. Contact Laura if you have suggestions or would like to help.
The sign on Palafox at the rear entrance also will be updated, and that project will be accomplished more quickly. Thanks to the creativity and clever thinking of Nancy Hagman and the Wolvertons, we have a repurposed 2’ x 4’ wooden sign to mark the back driveway. Jack and Kate are working on the logistics, including scheduling an inspection to ensure it is safe to dig and renting a handheld post hole auger (thanks to a donation from Jan Hervieux). They have a team already in place and you can view the completed project after November 17th.
