UUCP hosted a meeting of the Criminal Justice Research Committee on February 4th. Part of the interfaith JUST Pensacola coalition, the committee is exploring solutions to the community issue of high arrest rates for non-violent crimes. Among the options being considered is the use of deprioritization and the issuance of civil citations rather than arrest for certain misdemeanors.
