From Our New Minister, Rev. Alice Syltie

Our new church year is well under way and already lots of good things are happening.  The various teams and leaders have been meeting and planning for a fulfilling year for all of us. I’m delighted to be among you, as we imagine and move forward with your hopes and dreams for the continuing presence of Unitarian Universalism in Pensacola.

For a congregation accustomed to a full time minister, I know it is a bit of an adjustment to figure out exactly when and how to be in touch with me. I am not publishing regular office hours, because I am not here every week, and the schedule would be different each month. I am, however, at work, even when I am not physically in Pensacola.  I believe that our arrangement may offer you more flexibility than you might think. When I am in Pensacola, I plan to be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have also been available for meetings at other times and other places when necessary.

The very best way to set up an appointment with me is through Email. I am always connected that way. I have arranged with the Caring Team to be the Point Person for Pastoral Emergencies. So, if something happens and you feel you, or another member who is unable to reach out, needs immediate attention, please call me. If I am not able to be there, I will make sure that someone from the team responds.

As time goes on, I think we will all become more comfortable with the changes, and I’m convinced we will do good work together.

I look forward to the time we will spend celebrating diversity, striving for justice and inspiring love.

In Love and Hope,
Rev. Alice
