Julie’s JAZZ Notes – April

Happy Diamond Anniversary, UUCP!

Sixty years in Pensacola, that is quite an accomplishment. It has been a flurry of activity around church in preparation. It’s exciting to be able to celebrate the impressive renovation of our church kitchen and the ladies restroom, just in time for all the festivities! We appreciate all the folks who have planned the celebrations that will take place the week of April 8 -15.

The building is not the only thing under construction lately. Our main entrance on Highway 29 has been showing lots of signs of road improvements, and with the congregational vote on March 18, the ministerial transition is coming along so that the board knows what wishes will direct the immediate next steps for the future of UUCP. We appreciate the work of the ministerial transition team of Penny Featherstone, Jack Wolverton and Carol Trotter to help explore the options and create a format for members to share their questions, concerns and ideas.

In addition to the money donated to make the building renovations possible, we appreciate the donated time and talents of many members to bring it to fruition. Buz Ryland’s coordination of the project, Gerry and Marylee Donnelly, Jack and Kate Wolverton, Marcy Moreland and Michael Newcomb among many others! It’s been great having contracted labor with friends of our congregation too, with Rob “Whitie” Tjossem (husband of past president Audrey Preston) on construction and Charlie Tow handling the electrical system.

As we celebrate this vibrant community in its past sixty years and the future yet to come, it’s “A Great Day to Be a Unitarian Universalist!”

HUUGS,
Rev. Julie
