April was a busy month! The kitchen has been transformed and according to the caterers, who were serving at our 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner, it is “State of the Art”. The Ladies’ Room is looking great, too. Thanks to everyone who made these improvements possible. The 60th Anniversary Picnic and Gala Dinners were very special events that were well-planned and meaningful.
I am happy to announce that Nancy Hagman joined the board last month as President Elect. I am relieved to have someone with experience and vision to take my place in a couple of months. I am grateful to the Board for being flexible and having extra meetings as we sort through the pathways to our goals. I have been working on a task force with Penny Featherstone, Audrey Preston, David VandenLangenberg, Laurie Winterberg, and Marcy More-land to find an interim minister. Our ministerial application is submitted, and by late April or early May we will be hearing from interested interim candidates and holding interviews. There is still a lot of work to make sure this is a good fit for our church (both personnel-wise and financially), so we will update you as things progress.
I am sorry to say I will not be here on Julie’s last day, May 20. I will be in North Carolina at a UUWomenspirit event. Rev. Dr. Julie Kain has given so much to our community, and I am sad to see her go. I wish her the best of bright futures at her new church.
Speak respectfully,
listen to understand,
act compassionately
