Rev. Martin Luther King’s Legacy.
Jim intersperses songs and personal reflections on the life of MLK from the spiritual to political and ecological. From his student days to his human rights activism to his last years speaking out on the injustice of war and his acknowledgment of the ecological web of life, Dr. King was the most important spiritual leader for all America in the 20th Century.
Jim Scott has visited over 700 UU church in more than three decades of travels. His songs are in our hymnbooks. (Including “Gather the Spirit”, a UUCP favorite!). Former Co-Chair of the UU Ministry for the Earth, Jim helped create the “Green Sanctuary” program now undertaken by many UU congregations. He created the Earth and Spirit Songbook, an anthology of over 100 songs of earth and peace, and just received a grant from the Fund for Unitarian Universalism to create a sequel book in this coming year. His well-crafted words, subtle harmonies and guitar mastery moved Pete Seeger to call him “Some kind of magician.”
