Pensacola’s African American History

We have the privilege of having Mrs. Georgia Blackmon as our speaker this Sunday. Mrs. Blackmon is an icon in the Pensacola area, once providing a book store that became a haven for African American men and women to congregate and empower one another. We welcome Mrs. Blackmon back to UUCP as our guest speaker this week.

Mrs. Blackmon will talk about the newly reopened Ella L. Jordan African American History Museum, as well as African American History in Pensacola. Mrs. Blackmon led the efforts to restore the museum after the devastation of Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The museum will serve as an educational beacon and museum for our community and our roots.
