During the national celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we frequently hear lines from King’s “I I Have a Dream” speech. The speech is usually taken out of context with many themes glossed over in an attempt to use King’s message to suit varied agendas. Often overlooked is King’s very specific claim of a debt owed to the descendants of formerly enslaved peoples. Scott will talk about what King described as a debt owed by America that, thus far, has been marked “insufficient funds.”
