Breaking Bread and Giving Thanks
If ever we needed to come together, it would be now. As we companion one another through these bewildering times, we remember the origin of the word companion. Com, meaning with, and Panis, Latin for bread. Literally, “one who breaks bread with another.” Although we cannot be physically together to break bread or share a meal, we can reach across the space to break bread together at our Live Zoom Service and learn how to open our hearts to companion those in need through our Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) Guest At Your Table program. This service will feature beautiful music, singing along (while muted in the privacy of your own home), sharing joys and sorrows through the Chat Option, and participating together in the Ceremony of the Bread Communion, including sharing your personal stories of the significance of the bread you have through the Chat.
Our 5th Sunday Share the Plate offering recipient is J.U.S.T. Pensacola. The work this year focused on school readiness and criminal justice. Work continues in our community. We encourage you to contribute to this important work within the Pensacola/Escambia community.
We would love to gather the whole congregation on this Sunday. If you have any questions about how to participate, how to use chat, or anything else related to live Zoom with computer, phone, or other device, please text or Email me (Rev. Alice), Laura Keith King, or Marylee Donnelly. You may also leave a message on the church phone and someone will get back to you. We will do our best to get your questions answered.
The service will be edited and released later on Youtube, if you are not able to be present for the live event at 10a.m. this Sunday.
