“Uncovering and Underscoring Important Contributions of Women to Music”
March is the month we often highlight and commemorate women’s history and achievements. Using women’s words and songs Pat and Carla will give a brief look, with musical examples, at women’s musical contributions to songbooks and traditional music in faith settings. As Mirra Banks’ book, “Anonymous Was a Woman,” pointed out, women often did not receive credit or rights of authorship as recently as the mid-1800s, yet their contributions have long been a part of religious experiences.
