Thanks to Everyone for another Very Successful Yard Sale!!! Thanks for the wonderful donations–yoUU again provided many nice items. And again, you responded by helping set up the tables and moving the “stuff” to the lobby after church on Sunday, September 29th. We especially appreciate the guys getting the heavy furniture items donated by Debra DuBose and Pam Ubben from the pod. We had a great response in terms of helpers—20 members and friends on Sunday! I am sure I missed making note of some of the names as everyone moved so quickly, and I truly apologize for any omissions, but we THANK YOU SO MUCH! It made the work during the week so much easier. And then we asked for volunteers to help with set up, organizing and pricing items, and to work the sale—12 people showed up Monday which got us off to a great start, 15 came back on Tuesday, and 4 on Wednesday when we worked about half a day to finish all the pricing. On Friday (our busiest day), we had 13 volunteers and 16 came on Saturday, especially for the clean-up! for a total of 30 different people volunteering—absolutely wonderful participation!!! Special thanks are expressed to Michael Newcomb and Penny Featherstone who did pick-up of heavy items for the sale. And a very special “thank you” to Hannelore Musial who allowed us to store some early donations in her shed until our sale. We were the “best fed” yard sale workers thanks to “chef” Jack Comstock who prepared delicious homemade soup and delivered it personally. We had some yard sale donations which could not be sold, and we appreciate the members who took some items to their homes to dispose of in their garbage.
We could not have succeeded without ALL the dedicated helpers and donations. These “priceless” volunteers were Georgieanna Bryant, Kim Bryant, Linda Cobb, Holly Collins, Jack Comstock, Eva Cox, Gerry Donnelly, Marylee Donnelly, Penny Featherstone, Barbara Goggins, Tamara Grimes, Nancy Hagman, Lisa Hudson, Vicki Johnson and son Coty, Kaye Kemnitz, Laura Keith King, Carol Michalski, Emma Mulvaney, Michael Newcomb, Arnie Ondis, Audrey Preston, Erin Renfroe, Lauren Satterwhite, Scott Satterwhite, Jean Siebenaler, Terra Shute, Rev. Alice Syltie, Laurie Winterberg, Jack Wolverton, and Kate Wolverton. And SUPER THANKS to the following volunteers who helped EVERYDAY—Holly Collins, Barbara Goggins, Michael Newcomb, Erin Renfroe and me. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to ALL these WONDERFUL, DEDICATED Volunteers!!!!
Thanks also to persons who loaned us folding tables—these helped us better organize the items, so they would sell better. Thanks to Erin Renfroe for her placement of internet ads, to Office Assistant Terra Shute for internal advertisement of the sale, to Charlie Steed for putting it on church website, to Pam Levitt and Audrey Preston for putting it on the church’s Facebook page, to Arnie Ondis who placed our yellow yard sale signs in front of the church on Highway 29 and Palafox, and to Barbara Goggins and Georgieanna Bryant who had both a paid ad and multiple community services notices in the Pensacola News Journal. Thanks also to all the UU Shoppers who shopped the sale. Not only do our yard sales help us recycle and de-clutter, they most certainly help low income shoppers with budget shopping. Charities also benefited from our sale—books and other media were donated to the Open Books for Prisoners and the Milton Public Library, linens were donated to local animal shelters, home care items were donated to the Council on Aging, and other unsold items were donated to the Teen Challenge.
It definitely “takes a VILLAGE!!” Despite the still-in-progress dangerous construction on Highway 29, I am delighted to report an initial profit of $2186.03!!! However, “super-evil eye” Barbara Goggins sold donated gold jewelry (usually damaged or broken items) to a local jeweler for $290.40 making our Total Profit $2476.40. Additionally, we anticipate this total may increase slightly as we have a couple of items we are trying to sell online. THANKS SO MUCH FOR EVERYONE’S SUPPORT, WHETHER YOU DONATED ITEMS OR VOLUNTEERED YOUR TIME!!!
Georgieanna Bryant, Yard Sale Coordinator
